{"id":1836,"date":"2025-02-04T16:42:09","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T16:42:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2024\/12\/02\/long-necked-dinosaur-remains-found-in-spain\/"},"modified":"2025-02-04T16:42:09","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T16:42:09","slug":"long-necked-dinosaur-remains-found-in-spain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/04\/long-necked-dinosaur-remains-found-in-spain\/","title":{"rendered":"Long-necked dinosaur remains found in Spain"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2024-12-02 15:46:27<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>The remains of a new long-necked dinosaur species have been discovered.<BR><br \/>\nThe creature &#8211; which is thought to have lived 73 million years ago &#8211; was found in more than 12,000 fossils that were collected since 2007 when works to install high-speed rail tracks on a line in Cuenca, Spain, were taking place.<BR><br \/>\nThe Qunkasaura pintiquiniestra&#8217;s cervical, dorsal and caudal vertebrae, part of the pelvic girdle and parts of the limbs were discovered.<BR><br \/>\nAccording to Dr. Pedro Mocho, research leader from the University of Lisbon, it is believed it would have been &#8220;around 15 metres long, so head to tail, it could have weighed around ten tonnes and been three metres high up to the shoulder&#8221;. <BR><br \/>\nHe added: &#8220;Qunkasaura is a sauropod dinosaur that lived on the Iberian Peninsula in the Upper Cretaceous. <BR><br \/>\n&#8220;We know that this dinosaur lived in Cuenca and died there. <BR><br \/>\n&#8220;It probably belonged to a group at least spread across the Iberian Peninsula, and this one in particular belonged to a lineage that we believe had a distribution that had affinities with other sauropod dinosaurs from European and Asian territory.&#8221;<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangpremier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Premier (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2024-12-02 15:46:27 The remains of a new long-necked dinosaur species have been discovered.
