ABBA’s ‘Dancing Queen’ is Britain’s most misquoted pop song.

\nA new poll has found that the 1976 party classic confuses Britons the most as they mistakenly sing the line ‘dancing queen, feel the beat from the tangerine’.

\nThis is instead of the correct lyrics ‘dancing queen, feel the beat from the tambourine’.

\nThe poll by holiday resort chain Butlin’s revealed that 70 per cent of participants have sung incorrect lines to the biggest hits, with 15 per cent even confessing to doing so for more than a decade.

\nOther frequently misquoted songs include Queen’s anthem ‘We Will Rock You’, Taylor Swift track’ ‘Blank Space’ and Johnny Nash’s ‘I Can See Clearly Now’.

\nPresenter and DJ Pat Sharp, who partnered with Butlin’s for the study, said: “Seeing ‘Dancing Queen’ take the crown as the most misheard song to me is testament to how iconic it is.

\n“Whether you know the words or not, it is a universally loved tune you can’t not sing along to.”
