A cat was reunited with its owner – 13 years after it went missing.

\nJade Yhnell, a veterinary nurse, and her husband “searched” everywhere for their then-five-year-old pet Minx before the couple moved from Bristol, South West England, to Tredegar, Blaenau Gwent, South East Wales.

\nThey “never heard anything” about Minx – who was reared and microchipped – and ended up relocating without their beloved pet.

\nBut 13 years later, the thin and weak, flea-covered stray cat was brought into Fishguard Vets in Pembrokeshire, South West Wales, and Jade made the trip down to the coastal town to be with Minx – despite initially thinking an unknown number, which was Fishguard Vets, was telemarketing.

\nJade is quoted by the Western Telegraph as saying: “I was overwhelmed. I was speechless. I couldn\u2019t stop shaking. I said to my husband, \u2018They\u2019ve found Minx\u2019. He was quite shocked.

\n“It was really, really wonderful. It was just amazing …

\n\u201cWe are really lucky and fortunate that she had the chip,\u201d said Jade. \u201cIt is incredible. I\u2019m just glad she came back.\u201d

\nSpeaking about what Minx looked like when she and her pet were reunited, Jade continued: “She was in a really bad way but she recognised me immediately. She was headbutting me and purring.

\n\u201cI was a mess as you can imagine. She was exactly the same with my husband, she was so excited to see him.\u201d

\nAfter being reunited with Jade and her husband, as well as meeting their children, she took Minx home, and the cat’s health began to improve.

\nSadly, Minx died from cancer a short time after being back with Jade and her family.

\nBut Jade is thankful that Minx’s final days were full of love.

\nJade said: “She was purring right to the last breath. She was such a wonderful cat.

\n“I have nothing but gratitude that we had her back. I feel she came back to us for a reason, so that we could look after he in her final days.

\n“She knew how loved she was. She got to meet our babies and they absolutely adored her.”
