A water leak on a North London housing estate was fixed after a resident listed it as a “waterfall” on Google Maps.

\nIlona Papava was frustrated that no one fixed the drip at 71-90 Lissenden Gardens on the estate in Camden, for “at least half a year”.

\nShe saw the water – which is thought to have been coming from an overflowed tank – flow into “a neighbour’s house” when she walked her dogs daily at Hampstead Heath.

\nMrs. Papava, 29, is quoted by MailOnline as saying: “It had been dripping for at least half a year. Water was constantly dripping into a neighbour’s house.

\n“It didn’t really affect me directly, but I saw it every day when I went to walk my dogs at Hampstead Heath.

\n“It was from the roof, coming from the water tank. It was overflowing, and the water was coming through the roof.”

\nShe often joked with her husband that the leak resembled a waterfall.

\nAnd as she was “bored” one day, Mrs. Papava decided to list it as the “Lissenden Waterfall” on Google Maps – prompting five-star reviews.

\nThe London resident added: “I was just bored and annoyed. I was thinking about how furious I would be if it was facing my flat.

\n“My partner and I started joking that it was a waterfall. Eventually, neighbours left reviews, and it became this Google Maps joke.”

\nOne five-star review of the “waterfall” on Google Maps read: “Just back from Iceland, and believe it or not, none of its waterfalls hold a candle to this one.

\n“There’s something otherworldly about urban water cascading through the streets of Lissenden. Truly magical. Highly recommend.”

\nThe joke caught the attention of Camden Council, and it later confirmed the leak, identified in pipework, and fixed it.

\nMrs. Papava continued: “We all had a laugh writing the reviews, and I am very happy it has finally been resolved.

\n“But it did take half a year, and it probably wasn’t that hard to fix in the first place.

\n“Some residents had reached out before, but nothing happened.

\n“You could hear it every time you walked past it. It was dripping onto the bins, so you would’ve got wet if you took your bins out there.”

\nA spokesman for Camden Council said: “We apologise to residents for the issues they have been experiencing.

\n“We have now fixed this issue and stopped the leak.”
