{"id":3201,"date":"2025-08-15T11:15:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T11:15:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/15\/british-museum-opens-poo-exhibition\/"},"modified":"2025-08-15T11:15:11","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T11:15:11","slug":"british-museum-opens-poo-exhibition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/15\/british-museum-opens-poo-exhibition\/","title":{"rendered":"British museum opens poo exhibition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-08-15 11:15:09<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A British museum has launched a temporary exhibition about poo.<BR><br \/>\nThackray Museum of Medicine, in Leeds, North East England, opened the POO! addition to the tourist attraction on July 26, and closes on January 4, 2026.<BR><br \/>\nVisitors can explore faeces through &#8220;smell, touch and discovery&#8221;, as well as hear answers to questions, including why poo stinks and the reasoning behind its brown colour.<BR><br \/>\nGuests can marvel at a 12th-century medieval poo, a &#8220;poo sphere&#8221; &#8211; a crystal sphere featuring animal poo inside of it &#8211; as well as a proctogram chair to help people understand the issues that can pop up due to bowel movements.<BR><br \/>\nThe bosses of Thackray Museum of Medicine decided to open POO! after local primary school children were curious as to why farts are &#8220;colourless&#8221; and asked how people get &#8220;constipated&#8221;.<BR><br \/>\nJack Gann, curator of POO!, said: &#8220;We wanted to create something that speaks to children on their level \u2013 funny, surprising and bursting with real science.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;Poo is something everyone understands but rarely talks about.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;Through hands-on activities and items from our 81,000-strong collection, we\u2019ve created something amusing, accessible and full of discovery.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;If it\u2019s about poo, we\u2019ve probably got the answer!&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nPOO! is open during Thackray Museum of Medicine&#8217;s normal operating hours &#8211; 10am to 4pm, with last admission being 3.15pm.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2025-08-15 11:15:09 A British museum has launched a temporary exhibition about poo.
