{"id":3251,"date":"2025-08-22T13:37:38","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T13:37:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/22\/beaches-shut-in-spain-over-deadly-creature\/"},"modified":"2025-08-22T13:37:40","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T13:37:40","slug":"beaches-shut-in-spain-over-deadly-creature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/22\/beaches-shut-in-spain-over-deadly-creature\/","title":{"rendered":"Beaches shut in Spain over deadly creature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-08-22 13:37:38<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Holidaymakers have been warned not to enter the sea in Spain amid killer blue dragons.<BR><br \/>\nSwimming was banned along a seven-mile stretch of coast around Guardamar del Segura, north of Torrevieja, after one of the creatures was spotted.<BR><br \/>\nBlue Dragons &#8211; described as &#8220;the most beautiful killer in the ocean&#8221; &#8211; have a potentially fatal sting.<BR><br \/>\nAlso known as Glaucus atlanticus &#8211; a type of sea slug that measures 3 cm &#8211; its sting causes symptoms, such as nausea, pain, vomiting and acute allergic contact dermatitis.<BR><br \/>\nThe creatures &#8211; which are found in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans &#8211; &#8220;swallow a little air bubble&#8221; so they can float on the ocean surface.<BR><br \/>\nAfter a red flag was given on August 20, Jose Luis Saez, the mayor of Guardamar del Segura, said in an X post: &#8220;Bathing is prohibited following the appearance on Vivers Beach of two specimens of Glaucus atlanticus, known as the Blue Dragon.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nHe added that people &#8220;should stay away from this animal because of its sting&#8221;.<BR><br \/>\nOn August 21, Mr. Saez said the warning was now yellow &#8211; marking the end of the &#8220;special surveillance operation&#8221;.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2025-08-22 13:37:38 Holidaymakers have been warned not to enter the sea in Spain amid killer blue dragons.
