{"id":3369,"date":"2025-09-16T14:04:06","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T14:04:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/16\/eye-drops-could-replace-reading-glasses\/"},"modified":"2025-09-16T14:04:07","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T14:04:07","slug":"eye-drops-could-replace-reading-glasses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/16\/eye-drops-could-replace-reading-glasses\/","title":{"rendered":"Eye drops could replace reading glasses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-09-16 14:04:05<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Glasses may soon be obsolete \u2014 after scientists revealed that a simple course of eye drops can restore clear near vision.<BR><br \/>\nHundreds of millions of people worldwide suffer from presbyopia \u2014 a condition where the eyes struggle to focus on objects and text up close. <BR><br \/>\nThe problem is usually treated with reading glasses or surgery, but many find spectacles inconvenient and surgery is not always an option.<BR><br \/>\nA study of 766 people in Argentina presented at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) in Copenhagen over the weekend showed that a majority could read extra lines on eye test charts after using the drops &#8211; with a sustained improvement lasting two years.<BR><br \/>\nNow experts say drops containing pilocarpine &#8211; a drug that constricts the pupils and contracts the muscle that controls the shape of the eye&#8217;s lens to allow focus on objects at different distances &#8211; could provide a breakthrough.<BR><br \/>\nDr. Giovanna Benozzi, who led the research, explained: &#8220;Our most significant result showed rapid and sustained improvements in near vision for all three concentrations.
