{"id":3389,"date":"2025-09-18T15:39:20","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T15:39:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/18\/special-snow-leopard-dies-at-great-yarmouth-zoo\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T15:39:22","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T15:39:22","slug":"special-snow-leopard-dies-at-great-yarmouth-zoo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/18\/special-snow-leopard-dies-at-great-yarmouth-zoo\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Special\u2019 snow leopard dies at Great Yarmouth zoo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-09-18 15:39:20<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A much-loved snow leopard described as \u201ctruly special\u201d has died at Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens.<BR><br \/>\nThe 13-year-old female, named Nima, passed away after developing an infection despite initially responding to treatment at the zoo located near Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.<BR><br \/>\nZoo staff said: \u201cDespite every effort from our veterinary and keeper teams, the very difficult decision was made to peacefully euthanise her.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nNima had lived at the zoo since 2013 after arriving from Zoo Planckendael in Antwerp, Belgium. During her decade at Thrigby Hall she successfully raised five cubs with male snow leopard Mohan, making what the zoo called \u201ca significant contribution to the global conservation of this rare and magnificent species.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nIn a tribute, the zoo added: \u201cShe was a truly special animal \u2014 calm, gentle and observant, often watching over her surroundings from her favourite perches. At times she showed a playful side, reminding us all of her unique personality. Nima touched the hearts of everyone who met her and will be greatly missed by our staff and visitors alike.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nSnow leopards are classed as vulnerable in the wild, with fewer than 7,000 thought to survive across Central and South Asia.
