{"id":3401,"date":"2025-09-22T12:03:45","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T12:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/22\/boy-eats-bedroom-walls-due-to-rare-condition\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T12:03:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T12:03:46","slug":"boy-eats-bedroom-walls-due-to-rare-condition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/22\/boy-eats-bedroom-walls-due-to-rare-condition\/","title":{"rendered":"Boy eats bedroom walls due to rare condition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-09-22 12:03:44<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A boy eats his bedroom walls.<BR><br \/>\nLeigh Murphy, 29, has to keep an eye on her six-year-old son Steven &#8211; who she has with her 28-year-old husband Steven &#8211; so that he does not munch on dangerous items around the family&#8217;s three-bedroom, two-storey private rental house in Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire, England, because of his rare condition.<BR><br \/>\nThe youngster was diagnosed with a severe form of autism and a rare eating disorder called PICA &#8211; which causes people to crave inedible objects &#8211; in May, and it has made him eat his bedroom walls, mud and sand.<BR><br \/>\nLeigh &#8211; who is a full-time carer for Steven &#8211; is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: \u201cIt\u2019s horrendous &#8211; there is no safe space to put him.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;He destroys everything.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;He&#8217;s so strong, he just knocks me over.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;It&#8217;s terrifying, where do we go from here?<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;I&#8217;ll walk in and he&#8217;s got wires hanging out the wall.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nLeigh and her spouse, Steven, are pleading with North Lanarkshire Council to give them a council home so they can make it safer.<BR><br \/>\nA spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: &#8220;We understand the family&#8217;s situation and are working closely with social work colleagues to support their needs.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;The type of property required, an adaptable bungalow in Cumbernauld, is in very short supply, and most homes in the area are owned by housing associations rather than the council.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;We currently have no suitable council housing available, but, with the family&#8217;s agreement, we are engaged with our partner landlords to explore every option.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;While this is being treated as a priority, finding the right property may take time.&#8221;<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2025-09-22 12:03:44 A boy eats his bedroom walls.
