It works by restoring vision in people who have geographic atrophy (GA), an advanced form of AMD that affects around five million people worldwide and is responsible for one in four cases of legal blindness in the UK.<BR><br \/>\nDr. Mahi Muqit, senior vitreoretinal consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital, explained that the results have been astonishing.<BR><br \/>\nHe said: &#8220;I have all these patients who are blind, and when you see them, they want to know if there\u2019s anything that can restore vision. The answer has always been no.
