{"id":3708,"date":"2025-11-20T11:39:21","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T11:39:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/20\/vapes-are-3000-times-dirtier-than-the-average-toilet-seat-study-reveals\/"},"modified":"2025-11-20T11:39:23","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T11:39:23","slug":"vapes-are-3000-times-dirtier-than-the-average-toilet-seat-study-reveals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/20\/vapes-are-3000-times-dirtier-than-the-average-toilet-seat-study-reveals\/","title":{"rendered":"Vapes are 3,000 times dirtier than the average toilet seat, study reveals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-11-20 11:39:21<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Vapes and e-cigarettes have 3,000 times more germs than the average toilet seat.<BR><br \/>\nThe discovery comes from a new analysis by BioLabTests in Coventry, which found that after just three days of use, the mouthpiece of a strawberry-ice Lost Mary vape contained around 150,000 colony-forming units (CFUs) &#8211; \u201cas many as 3,000 times more than the bacteria found on a typical public toilet\u201d, the lab reported.<BR><br \/>\nMicrobiologist Reynold Mpofu, who led the investigation, said \u201cevery touch and puff\u201d fuels microbial growth. <BR><br \/>\nHe warned: \u201cThis evidence highlights the critical importance of regular cleaning and exceptional hygiene for vape devices.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nThe rapid build-up occurs because vape mouthpieces mimic the \u201cwarm, moist environment\u201d that microbes thrive in. <BR><br \/>\nAccording to Mpofu, it is \u201cnot surprising given that the human mouth harbours approximately 700 species of bacteria\u201d.<BR><br \/>\nBut the mouthpiece isn\u2019t the only problem, as tests found bacterial and fungal growth across the entire vape body, including E. coli, Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, and Bacillus &#8211; all commonly found on human hands, bathroom surfaces and in the environment.<BR><br \/>\nResearchers believe many devices may even develop biofilms &#8211; slimy microbial communities that cling stubbornly to plastic and are notoriously difficult to remove.<BR><br \/>\nMpofu said: \u201cMuch like phones, vapes are frequently handled and placed on a variety of surfaces.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cThis provides the perfect opportunity for microbes to transfer to the device.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nWith 5.4 million vapers now in the UK &#8211; more than the number of cigarette smokers &#8211; hygiene has become a growing concern.<BR><br \/>\nMarkus Lindblad of Haypp, which co-commissioned the study, urged users to clean devices far more often. <BR><br \/>\nHe said: \u201cWe recommend wiping down both the mouthpiece and body every three days \u2026 most advice online recommends once a week; however, our research shows this is far too long.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nExperts have said the findings do not change the fact that vaping is still less harmful than smoking, but they do highlight an overlooked risk hiding in plain sight.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2025-11-20 11:39:21 Vapes and e-cigarettes have 3,000 times more germs than the average toilet seat.
