{"id":3711,"date":"2025-11-21T15:00:32","date_gmt":"2025-11-21T15:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/21\/ai-bear-recalled-after-giving-sex-advice\/"},"modified":"2025-11-21T15:00:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-21T15:00:34","slug":"ai-bear-recalled-after-giving-sex-advice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/11\/21\/ai-bear-recalled-after-giving-sex-advice\/","title":{"rendered":"AI bear recalled after giving sex advice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-11-21 15:00:32<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Parents were left horrified this week after a $99 \u201csmart teddy\u201d was found dishing out X-rated chat and even giving tips on where to find knives in the house.<BR><br \/>\nThe cuddly culprit &#8211; \u201cKumma\u201d, an AI-enabled plush bear sold by Singapore firm FoloToy &#8211; has now been pulled from sale after US safety researchers exposed its shockingly unsafe behaviour.<BR><br \/>\nBilled as a \u201cfriendly, interactive\u201d companion that \u201cadapts to your personality,\u201d Kumma was powered by GPT-4o and marketed as the perfect pal for both children and adults. <BR><br \/>\nInstead, investigators from the US PIRG Education Fund found it was more Chatbot of Horrors than Care Bear.<BR><br \/>\nAccording to their report, Kumma had \u201cpoor safeguards for inappropriate content\u201d and would veer into graphic sexual chat with alarming speed.<BR><br \/>\nResearchers wrote: &#8220;We were surprised to find how quickly Kumma would take a single sexual topic we introduced into the conversation and run with it.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nThey added that the toy escalated into \u201cgraphic detail\u201d and even introduced new sexual concepts by itself.<BR><br \/>\nIn one exchange, Kumma explained sex positions; in another, it described step-by-step rope-tying instructions \u201cfor beginners&#8221;. <BR><br \/>\nMore disturbingly, it allegedly invented role-play scenarios involving teachers, parents and children &#8211; despite supposedly being designed for family use.<BR><br \/>\nThe bear also gave shockingly unsafe practical advice, including telling testers where knives might be located in a typical home and how to light a match.<BR><br \/>\nFoloToy CEO Larry Wang confirmed to CNN that the firm has suspended sales of Kumma and its entire AI toy line while conducting an \u201cinternal safety audit.\u201d <BR><br \/>\nHe admitted the findings raised serious concerns that needed to be addressed immediately.<BR><br \/>\nOpenAI has separately suspended the developer for violating policy, according to PIRG.<BR><br \/>\nSafety experts warn Kumma is only the tip of a very fluffy iceberg. <BR><br \/>\nPIRG co-author R.J. Cross said: &#8220;AI toys are still practically unregulated.
