{"id":3768,"date":"2025-12-03T15:01:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-03T15:01:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/03\/cats-shout-more-at-men\/"},"modified":"2025-12-03T15:01:20","modified_gmt":"2025-12-03T15:01:20","slug":"cats-shout-more-at-men","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/03\/cats-shout-more-at-men\/","title":{"rendered":"Cats \u2018shout\u2019 more at men"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-12-03 15:01:18<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Cats are noisier towards men.<BR><br \/>\nResearchers from Ankara University, Turkey, filmed 31 cats and their humans in their homes, using chest-mounted cameras to capture those first precious seconds when owners walk through the door.<BR><br \/>\nOn average, cats lobbed 4.3 meows at their male owners in the first 100 seconds &#8211; compared to a mere 1.8 for women. <BR><br \/>\nThat\u2019s more than double the vocal effort, apparently just to get a man to look up and say, \u201cOh hey, buddy.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nThe team\u2019s theory is deliciously blunt: women are simply better at chatting to their cats. <BR><br \/>\nFemale owners tend to use \u201ccat-directed speech\u201d &#8211; the baby-talk, sing-song nonsense that cats absolutely adore &#8211; and they\u2019re far more tuned-in to feline cues.<BR><br \/>\nThe researchers wrote in Ethology: &#8220;It is therefore possible that male caregivers require more explicit vocalisations to notice and respond to the needs of their cats.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nBut it was not just about noise. The team also documented the full suite of kitty welcome rituals &#8211; upright tails, eager approaches, and allorubbing = the affectionate head-butt move that leaves you wearing your cat\u2019s scent like a badge of honour.<BR><br \/>\nAnd despite jokes that cats are only in it for the kibble, the study found their greetings weren\u2019t driven by food. Nope &#8211; the animals genuinely seemed happy or relieved that their humans had returned.<BR><br \/>\nOther research backs up just how complex cat communication really is.
