New data link poor smell function to increased risk of stroke and heart failure, even in previously healthy adults.

Beyond disease prediction, smell loss messes with daily life in ways people rarely admit.

Those affected are more vulnerable to gas leaks, fires, spoiled food and accidental poisoning.

Research also shows higher rates of eating disorders, depression, social isolation and relationship strain, with diets skewing toward sugar-rich, high-fat comfort foods that compensate for dulled flavour.

Given the scale of evidence, the expert panel is calling for smell screening to become routine, and for doctors to actually be trained to take it seriously.

Visit Bang Bizarre (main website)

2025-12-08 14:00:53 A poor sense of smell is linked to more than 130 diseases, a study claims.
