{"id":3777,"date":"2025-12-09T15:23:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T15:23:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/09\/most-people-dont-get-enough-omega-3-study-suggests\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T15:23:17","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T15:23:17","slug":"most-people-dont-get-enough-omega-3-study-suggests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/09\/most-people-dont-get-enough-omega-3-study-suggests\/","title":{"rendered":"Most people don\u2019t get enough omega-3, study suggests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2025-12-09 15:23:14<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Three-quarters of the planet may be running low on omega-3.<BR><br \/>\nAccording to a sweeping global review, most of us aren\u2019t eating nearly enough of the fatty acids essential for heart, brain, and lifelong health. <BR><br \/>\nThe analysis &#8211; a collaboration between the University of East Anglia, the University of Southampton and Holland and Barrett &#8211; found that 76 per cent of people worldwide fall short of recommended levels of EPA and DHA, the two most important omega-3 fats.<BR><br \/>\nProfessor Anne Marie Minihane of UEA said: \u201cWe found big gaps between what\u2019s advised and what most of us consume.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cTo close that gap, we need easier, sustainable ways to get these important nutrients \u2014 like foods enriched with omega-3s or supplements.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nShe hopes the study helps scientists, clinicians and policymakers redraw their nutrition messaging for the real world.<BR><br \/>\nEPA and DHA, found mainly in oily fish like salmon, support everything from infant brain development to adult cardiovascular health &#8211; and later in life may help reduce depression risk and cognitive decline. <BR><br \/>\nYet achieving optimal levels through diet alone is often unrealistic.<BR><br \/>\nDr. Abbie Cawood of Holland and Barrett said: \u201cAchieving recommended intakes from diet alone can be challenging \u2026 ensuring people can meet their needs either through diet or with the support of supplementation is essential at every life stage.\u201d <BR><br \/>\nShe added that supplementation is often required during pregnancy or in people who rarely eat fish.<BR><br \/>\nThe study also highlighted the confusing, contradictory patchwork of omega-3 guidelines worldwide.<BR><br \/>\nSome countries recommend 250 mg of combined EPA and DHA per day for adults; others offer no clear guidance at all. <BR><br \/>\nPregnant women are typically advised to consume an extra 100\u2013200 mg of DHA daily.<BR><br \/>\nProfessor Philip Calder of Southampton said the core problem is simple: \u201cWhat is clear is that most people are not meeting these recommendations.\u201d<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2025-12-09 15:23:14 Three-quarters of the planet may be running low on omega-3.
