A Reddit user\u2019s account of conversations with a retired submariner has reignited discussion about mysterious fast-moving objects detected in oceans around the world.

\nThe topic surfaced in a US government report last year and continues to challenge investigators.

\nin 2025 a document emerged revealing 21 unexplained sightings of unidentified objects, with the US government acknowledging the discoveries after Congress received a report from the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO.) The paper contained eyewitness testimonies that had undergone investigation.

\nA Reddit user, who posts under the name Dabier, says he worked alongside a submariner in the past and questioned him about \u201cfast movers\u201d \u2013 a term used to describe Unidentified Aerial or Submerged Objects (UASO) that reportedly move at high velocities detected by military systems.

\nThe submariner apparently told him: \u201cHe worked in the sonar room, so he was the guy to ask about it. He said that they would put all \u2018unidentified\u2019 contacts as in clearly not biological \u2013 there\u2019s a lot of unidentified biological noise in the unidentified section of this logbook style thing they had.\u201d

\nThe Reddit post added: \u201cIt was like a file with all the navy\u2019s info on how other ships sound. He said there were some entries they made which were really weird, either very fast with nothing in the area that could\u2019ve made that noise or just weird as in strange noises like buzzing or something that\u2019s clearly not natural but sounds like no ship they\u2019ve ever heard.

\n\u201cI guess that file and all the recordings would be sent off the boat periodically. No word what happened with it after that.\u201d

\nThe Reddit user said the serviceman was a \u201csonarman so tracking things was literally his job\u201d.

\nReports of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP), commonly referred to as UFOs, have included sightings of a green fireball and mysterious flashing lights.

\nAdditional incidents that have raised eyebrows featured a multicoloured jellyfish-like object and a six-foot rocket.

\nSome objects were eventually identified as mundane items such as balloons, birds and satellites, but a number of cases continue to baffle investigators.

\nAmong the unexplained encounters is the infamous \u201cGOFAST\u201d footage showing a US Navy F\/A-18 jet crew\u2019s brush with a UAP, alongside video of a rapidly moving silver sphere recorded by an American drone operating in the Middle East.

\nAARO said: \u201cIt is important to underscore that, to date, AARO has discovered no evidence of extraterrestrial beings, activity, or technology.\u201d

\nThe organisation added: \u201cNone of these resolved cases substantiated advanced foreign adversarial capabilities or breakthrough aerospace technologies.\u201d

\nIt continued: \u201cAARO is working closely with its IC Intelligence Community and SandT Science and Technology partners to understand and attribute the 21 cases received this reporting period that merit further analysis based on reported anomalous characteristics and\/or behaviours.\u201d

\nAARO said it will \u201cprovide immediate notification to Congress should AARO identify any cases that indicate or involve a breakthrough in foreign adversarial aerospace capability.\u201d
