A new swanky London members club is hiring a “butter sommelier”.

\nThe Pembroke in Belgravia – which throws open its doors in the autumn – has been hunting for a candidate who has a “deep love for, and understanding of, butter” to “curate our butter assortment and assist in training staff using our silver butter trolley”.

\nThe “super” members club – who advertised the “butter sommelier” role in Country Life – has also been looking for a “sports tzar”.

\nIt will see a “charismatic” individual – who is “willing to work late” – ensure that the nine screens in the club\u2019s billiards room are displaying appropriate sports events

\nThe advert read: “You\u2019ll have an eye for opposites that attract and be fine-tuned to the spontaneity and sophistication involved in the perfect seating plan.”

\nA source at The Pembroke told The Times that the unusual job roles are paid.

\nThey added: “It may sound indulgent, but it\u2019s really a sign of the times. There\u2019s a sommelier for wine, a barista for coffee, so why not butter? Expectations have shifted. We\u2019re living in an age of hyper-specialisation.

\n“Members don\u2019t just want good; they want considered, curated and expertly delivered. If we\u2019re asking members to trust us with their time, we think that level of detail matters.”
