{"id":4196,"date":"2026-03-11T13:05:55","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T13:05:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/11\/this-vitamin-may-slow-ageing\/"},"modified":"2026-03-11T13:05:57","modified_gmt":"2026-03-11T13:05:57","slug":"this-vitamin-may-slow-ageing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/11\/this-vitamin-may-slow-ageing\/","title":{"rendered":"This vitamin may slow ageing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-03-11 13:05:55<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A daily multivitamin may help slow the ageing process, according to a new study.<BR><br \/>\nResearchers found that people who took a multivitamin every day for two years showed less DNA damage than others of the same age \u2013 suggesting their bodies were ageing more slowly.<BR><br \/>\nThe study, carried out by scientists at Mass General Brigham in Boston, tracked 958 adults with an average age of about 70.<BR><br \/>\nScientists measured participants\u2019 biological age by analysing damage to their DNA. <BR><br \/>\nAs people get older, genes accumulate errors and break down over time, which is linked to declining health.<BR><br \/>\nUsing five different &#8220;genetic clocks&#8221; to estimate biological ageing, the researchers found that people who took daily multivitamins showed slower ageing on two of the tests. <BR><br \/>\nOn average, the difference equated to around four months less biological ageing over the two-year period.<BR><br \/>\nResearchers say this could mean people who take a daily vitamin for six years might effectively wind back their biological clock by about a year.<BR><br \/>\nLead researcher Howard Sasso said many people already take supplements without knowing if they actually help.<BR><br \/>\nHe explained: &#8220;A lot of people take a multivitamin without necessarily knowing any benefits from taking it, so the more we can learn about them, the better.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;It was exciting to see benefits of a multivitamin linked with markers of biological ageing.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;There is a lot of interest in identifying ways to not just live longer, but to live better.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;This opens the door to learning more about accessible, safe interventions that contribute to healthier, higher-quality ageing.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nMany older adults are deficient in key nutrients such as vitamin B and vitamin D, which can leave them feeling unwell.<BR><br \/>\nHowever, scientists remain divided on the overall benefits of supplements. <BR><br \/>\nWhile multivitamins are generally considered safe, experts say they may not be necessary for people who eat a healthy diet.<BR><br \/>\nIndependent researchers reviewing the study, published in Nature Medicine, said the benefits appeared very small.<BR><br \/>\nPilar Guallar-Castillon, of the Autonomous University of Madrid, said: &#8220;Stop spending your money on multivitamins and instead make an effort to eat a diet rich in fruit and vegetables and low in ultra-processed foods.&#8221;<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-03-11 13:05:55 A daily multivitamin may help slow the ageing process, according to a new study.
