Even a month later, scans suggested nerve pathways in the brain still contained more water than usual \u2013 a sign they were more active and flexible.<BR><br \/>\nExperts say this could indicate an &#8220;anti-ageing&#8221; effect in the brain.<BR><br \/>\nParticipants also reported feeling better able to cope with problems and more hopeful about the future following the experience.<BR><br \/>\nDr Taylor Lyons, from Imperial College London, said: &#8220;Psilocybin gives people an ability to revise entrenched patterns of thought.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;The fact that these changes track with insight and improved well-being is especially exciting.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nThe findings add to growing scientific interest in psychedelics as potential treatments for mental health conditions including depression, anxiety and PTSD.<BR><br \/>\nPsilocybin has increasingly been studied in controlled medical settings, with researchers exploring whether it can help &#8220;reset&#8221; harmful thought patterns linked to poor mental health.<BR><br \/>\nDespite this, magic mushrooms remain Class A drugs in the UK alongside cocaine and heroin because they are considered to carry a high risk of harm and little accepted medicinal benefit.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-05-08 13:02:40 Taking magic mushrooms just once may be enough to physically alter the brain for weeks, scientists have revealed.
