{"id":4674,"date":"2026-06-16T13:02:36","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T13:02:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/16\/vape-flavours-may-raise-cardiac-arrest-risk\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T13:02:38","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T13:02:38","slug":"vape-flavours-may-raise-cardiac-arrest-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/16\/vape-flavours-may-raise-cardiac-arrest-risk\/","title":{"rendered":"Vape flavours may raise cardiac arrest risk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-06-16 13:02:35<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A key ingredient used in popular vape flavours could disrupt the heart&#8217;s natural rhythm and even increase the risk of cardiac arrest.<BR><br \/>\nResearchers from the University of Louisville in Kentucky found that synthetic cooling agents commonly used in menthol and &#8220;ice&#8221; flavoured e-cigarettes may have harmful effects on the cardiovascular system.<BR><br \/>\nThe chemicals are designed to make vapour feel smoother and less harsh when inhaled, but little has been known about their long-term health impact.<BR><br \/>\nTests carried out on mice and human heart cells in laboratory conditions revealed the cooling ingredients altered heart rate variability, the time between heartbeats.<BR><br \/>\nThe changes increased the likelihood of arrhythmias, causing the heart to beat too early or too late.<BR><br \/>\nScientists warned that such disturbances could contribute to serious complications including high blood pressure, an elevated heart rate and, in extreme cases, potentially fatal cardiac arrest.<BR><br \/>\nThe findings were published in the journal Circulation: Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology.<BR><br \/>\nDr Alex Carll, study author, said: &#8220;Synthetic coolants create a chilling sensation without flavour so they fall outside of e-cigarette restrictions that focus on flavours.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;They have become really popular in vapes, partly because they reduce harshness and make inhalation feel smoother.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;These findings suggest they could cause arrhythmias by making the heart electrically ready too soon or too late for the next beat.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;In general, we\u2019ve seen tobacco-flavored vapes do not disrupt cardiac conduction in mice as much as vapes with either menthol or synthetic coolants.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;Coolants are added to e-cigarettes at very high levels so they should be considered for regulation.&#8221;<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-06-16 13:02:35 A key ingredient used in popular vape flavours could disrupt the heart&#8217;s natural rhythm and even increase the risk of cardiac arrest.
