{"id":4722,"date":"2026-06-24T13:06:52","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T13:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/24\/man-crowned-worlds-loudest-person-after-record-breaking-shout\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T13:06:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T13:06:54","slug":"man-crowned-worlds-loudest-person-after-record-breaking-shout","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/06\/24\/man-crowned-worlds-loudest-person-after-record-breaking-shout\/","title":{"rendered":"Man crowned world&#039;s loudest person after record-breaking shout"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-06-24 13:06:51<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Scolding the kids, hailing a cab or celebrating during the World Cup are all instances where you might expect to hear some shouting. <BR><br \/>\nAnd even though you might think it\u2019s loud, it doesn\u2019t remotely compare to the below of Australian man Joseph McGrail-Bateup, who has been crowed the world\u2019s loudest person. <BR><br \/>\nThe 58-year-old air conditioner cleaner from Canberra has been acknowledged by the Guinness World Records as having the loudest ever shout by an individual &#8211; yelling the word \u201cnow\u201d at a staggering 122.4 decibels.<BR><br \/>\nIt compares to the noise levels of a jet plane taking off, or an ambulance siren at close range. <BR><br \/>\nThe record was broken for the first time since 1994, when Northern Irish teacher Annalisa Flanagan had shouted \u201cquiet\u201d at 121.7 decibels. <BR><br \/>\nSpeaking about his record, Joseph, who is also an honorary town crier, told the Associated Press that he hadn\u2019t done any practising ahead of the day itself, when he just went for it. <BR><br \/>\nHe said: \u201cThere\u2019s no way that you can actually practice for it. You have to just keep it for the day, especially with the world record attempt,\u201d McGrail-Bateup said.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cIt took me seven attempts just for one word, which was the word \u2018now,\u2019 and my voice was shot for the next couple of days as well. It was husky. It was terrible. So no, you can\u2019t really practice for it. But it\u2019s a lot of fun when you\u2019re doing it!\u201d<BR><br \/>\nDespite getting the record, Joseph said he considers himself the world\u2019s loudest MAN, rather than person. <BR><br \/>\nHe added: \u201cI\u2019m pleased that she (Flanagan) gets to keep her record. So she\u2019s still the loudest woman in the world and I\u2019m the loudest male in the world.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nJoseph\u2019s shout was recorded in a Canberra radio studio by a professional acoustic engineer, with witnesses present, on 2 May (26). <BR><br \/>\nThe files from the session were then sent to the Guinness World Records, who announced Joseph\u2019s new record this week. <BR><br \/>\nSomewhat strangely, it\u2019s the second time Joseph has broken a world record, after doing so in 2019 when he shot 10 arrows in 60.03 seconds &#8211; breaking a record that had stood since 2015.<BR><br \/>\nJoseph\u2019s pride was short-lived, however, as nine months later his record was broken by a seven-year-old boy, who was 11.4 seconds faster.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-06-24 13:06:51 Scolding the kids, hailing a cab or celebrating during the World Cup are all instances where you might expect to hear some shouting.
