retains hot dog eating record after scoffing 66 in 10 minutes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-07-06 11:00:08<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>Competitive eater Joey \u2018Jaws\u2019 Chestnut has retained his world record for scoffing the most hot dogs in 10 minutes after managing to consume 66 of them at Nathan\u2019s Famous Fourth of July\u00a0contest on Saturday (04Jul26). <BR><br \/>\nThe 42-year-old took home the \u2018Mustard Belt\u2019 honour for the 17th year, beating 13 competitors, from countries including Australia, South Korea and the Czech Republic as he did so. <BR><br \/>\nFollowing his victory, Joey called competitive hot dog eating \u201cthe most patriotic sport we\u2019ve got\u201d &#8211; as it\u2019s held annually on the Independence Day holiday.<BR><br \/>\nIn an interview after his win, Joey said: \u201cIt\u2019s a dream, it\u2019s electric, there\u2019s no place better on Earth\u201d. <BR><br \/>\nComing in second place was 41-year-old Patrick Bertoletti, who managed to eat 50 hot dogs and buns. <BR><br \/>\nHowever, Joey fell short of topping his own world record, which saw him eat 76 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes at the contest in 2021 &#8211; a whopping 7.6 hot dogs per minute. <BR><br \/>\nJoey added after the competition that he was disappointed he hadn\u2019t beaten the record &#8211; one of 55 world records he has &#8211; as he had \u201cso much room left\u201d. <BR><br \/>\nIt\u2019s understood that the heatwave in New York, which saw temperatures rise to 32 degrees Celsius, made the contest harder, while the weather also changed the consistency of the buns, ESPN presenters said. <BR><br \/>\nIn the women\u2019s division of the contest, Miki Sudo defended her title after eating 38.75 hot dogs &#8211;
