{"id":4812,"date":"2026-07-10T11:05:38","date_gmt":"2026-07-10T11:05:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/10\/i-know-what-i-saw-hiker-spots-hairy-faced-sasquatch-in-idaho\/"},"modified":"2026-07-10T11:05:40","modified_gmt":"2026-07-10T11:05:40","slug":"i-know-what-i-saw-hiker-spots-hairy-faced-sasquatch-in-idaho","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/10\/i-know-what-i-saw-hiker-spots-hairy-faced-sasquatch-in-idaho\/","title":{"rendered":"&#039;I know what I saw&#039;: Hiker spots &#039;hairy-faced Sasquatch&#039; in Idaho"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-07-10 11:05:38<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A hiker has reported seeing a six-foot tall, hairy-faced creature making &#8220;deep pig grunts&#8221; and walking on two legs in Idaho.<BR><br \/>\nDonald Schmidt, 50, who is described as an &#8220;ardent sceptic&#8221;, was enjoying a hike during a camping trip to Deadwood Reservoir, just north of the city of Boise, last month when he spotted a strange-looking, bipedal beast which was between five and six feet tall with &#8220;long reddish hair&#8221;.<BR><br \/>\nHe reported his sighting to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO), explaining: &#8220;[I] have lived in Boise, Idaho since 1978. <BR><br \/>\n&#8220;I hike and camp regularly up at Deadwood Reservoir just north of Boise. More times than not I see black bears, moose, deer and even an occasional wolf.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;Last weekend I was hiking above the dam when I saw slight movement up a hill about 60-70 yards away.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;I stopped to watch for a moment thinking maybe bear or [a mountain] lion. After watching for about a minute this animal stood up on two legs and briefly looked towards me then turned uphill and began to quickly walk. I lost sight after 15-20 seconds.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nHe added of the creature: &#8220;What I saw was not a bear or any other animal I recognize. I wasn&#8217;t afraid but I was uncertain and confused. <BR><br \/>\n&#8220;What I saw looked to be between 5ft and 6ft tall with long reddish hair. Its head was tall and its neck looked like it wasn&#8217;t there, just a head sitting on human like shoulders. I didn&#8217;t see a lot of facial features other than the face was covered in hair.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nDonald added that he was so spooked by the experience, he cut short his vacation and headed home early.<BR><br \/>\nHe explained: &#8220;I went directly back to camp and made lunch and just reflecting on what I saw. I was planning on staying three more days but packed up and left that next morning. <BR><br \/>\n&#8220;I feel like I know what I saw but reluctant to tell anyone. I&#8217;ve always thought of Sasquatch as a myth and nothing more. I know what I saw and it was something I&#8217;m not sure I was meant to see.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nBFRO Investigator Matthew Moneymaker looked into Donald&#8217;s sighting and reported back: &#8220;I spoke with witness Donny Schmidt. He is a credible witness &#8230;<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;I asked about the colour of the fur of the creature. Specifically I asked how it would compare to the color of orangutan fur. <BR><br \/>\n&#8220;He said it was darker red colour than an orangutan.
