{"id":4942,"date":"2026-08-07T11:05:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T11:05:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/07\/blind-horse-learns-braille-to-chase-dressage-glory\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T11:05:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T11:05:07","slug":"blind-horse-learns-braille-to-chase-dressage-glory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/07\/blind-horse-learns-braille-to-chase-dressage-glory\/","title":{"rendered":"Blind horse learns \u2018braille\u2019 to chase dressage glory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-08-07 11:05:05<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A blind horse is aiming for dressage glory after mastering a unique form of equine \u201cbraille\u201d to compete at the highest level.<BR><br \/>\nMilo, a 15-year-old Appaloosa gelding, was forced to step away from competition in 2023 after an eye infection left him without sight.<BR><br \/>\nBut the determined horse has made an incredible comeback, returning to the arena last year and winning at the Royal Windsor Show for the eighth time.<BR><br \/>\nMilo has since claimed further victories after learning to rely on a combination of touch, sound and signals from his rider to move confidently through routines.<BR><br \/>\nOwner Megan Share, 28, says the horse uses the sensation of the ground beneath his hooves to build a picture of his surroundings.<BR><br \/>\nThe riding school owner, from Kidderminster, Worcestershire, is now preparing Milo for major events including the Horse of the Year Show and the London International Horse Show.<BR><br \/>\nMegan is quoted by The Sun as saying: \u201cHe interprets my pressure on him, but he also uses his own pressure of his hooves on the ground for his spatial awareness.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cHe\u2019s using his hearing and feel of touch with his feet to feel along the ground. It is like a braille technique.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cHe\u2019s also a lot more alert and he reacts quicker as his sense of hearing is elevated as a result of him losing his sight.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nDespite losing his vision, Milo has continued to compete against fully sighted horses and has shown no signs of slowing down.<BR><br \/>\nMegan said: \u201cI\u2019m extremely proud of him.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cThere can\u2019t be any other blind horses competing at this level in the world.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nShe described Milo as \u201cjust amazing\u201d and said his achievements prove blindness does not have to end a horse\u2019s competitive career.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-08-07 11:05:05 A blind horse is aiming for dressage glory after mastering a unique form of equine \u201cbraille\u201d to compete at the highest level.
