It’s the second largest loch in Scotland by surface area … Recent sightings of Nessie have pinpointed her in a number of different locations across Loch Ness.

“Based on our analysis of the sighting register, if you’re hoping to see her you should go to Urquhart Castle, or Urquhart Bay more generally.

“Of the 196 sightings that gave locations for Nessie sightings, 34 of them were at Urquhart Castle, while a further 27 of them were at Urquhart Bay.

“Twenty-five sightings were made at Fort Augustus, on the south side of the loch, while 21 were made at Dores.”

The data suggest Nessie is more likely to be spotted over a weekend – with Saturday being the most likely day for a sighting.

The report added: “Most sightings were made on a Saturday, followed by a Sunday … However, if you’re visiting through the week, you’re still in luck, as the data shows that sightings are pretty equal for the remaining days.”

The news comes just days after a nine-year-old child snapped a picture of the “head of a creature in the water” during a cruise on Loch Ness.

Crystal, who was visitingwith her family from Australia, captured an image of movement in underneath the surface of the water during a cruise on loch and it was submitted to the Official Loch Ness Monster Sightings Register.

The organisation shared the image online on July 23 and wrote: “Nine year old Crystal, visiting from Australia with her family, was on the bottom deck of one of the cruise boats on the loch when she took a picture of what she described as the head of a creature in the water at 11.30am. This is what she saw.” Crystal’s sighting is the eight report from the loch in 2026.

It came just weeks after another youngster, eight-year-old Abigail Ross, caught a mysterious object on camera in the waters of Loch Ness. It was described as “small dark object” the size of a “small rowing boat” but moving as fast as a “jet ski”.

Visit Bang Bizarre (main website)

2026-08-10 12:00:00 The best spots to get a potential glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster have been revealed.
