{"id":4996,"date":"2026-08-19T14:05:31","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T14:05:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/19\/british-museum-slammed-over-mummy-warning\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T14:05:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T14:05:32","slug":"british-museum-slammed-over-mummy-warning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/19\/british-museum-slammed-over-mummy-warning\/","title":{"rendered":"British Museum slammed over mummy warning"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-08-19 14:05:30<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>The British Museum has been accused of going overboard after warning visitors that an ancient Egypt tour features mummies.<BR><br \/>\nTicket-holders for the \u00a335 Out-of-hours tour: Life and death in ancient Egypt are told that the experience &#8220;visits displays that include human remains&#8221;, The Sun reports.<BR><br \/>\nThe warning adds that the attraction will &#8220;explore the preparation of the deceased for burial, including mummification&#8221;.<BR><br \/>\nThe 9am tour also examines how funerary remains can reveal details about the lives of ancient Egyptians.<BR><br \/>\nThe museum, which attracts more than six million visitors a year, holds more than 6,000 human remains and says they are treated &#8220;with respect and dignity&#8221;.<BR><br \/>\nHistory enthusiast Simon Fisher, 52, spotted the warning while trying to book the tour.<BR><br \/>\nThe former academic, from Slough, Berkshire, told the publication: &#8220;I wonder what the ancient civilisations would make of today\u2019s woke nonsense.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;The warning seems incredibly preachy and written for the sake of it.
