{"id":5001,"date":"2026-08-20T10:03:39","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T10:03:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/20\/man-hit-with-7000-water-bill\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T10:03:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T10:03:40","slug":"man-hit-with-7000-water-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/20\/man-hit-with-7000-water-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"Man hit with \u00a37,000 water bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-08-20 10:03:38<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A man was left facing a \u00a37,000 water bill after his meter claimed he had used enough water to fill thousands of baths.<BR><br \/>\nMick Foy, 64, from Ditton, Kent, was alerted to the bizarre bill after South East Water contacted him in July about unusually high usage.<BR><br \/>\nThe construction worker, who lives with his wife Debbie in a three-bedroom home, said the company described the consumption as \u201ctotally out of the ordinary\u201d.<BR><br \/>\nHe checked the meter himself and was stunned to find it spinning wildly.<BR><br \/>\nHe&#8217;s quoted by the Daily Mirror newspaper as saying: \u201cIt was spinning around like there\u2019s no tomorrow. It was just going into a complete frenzy.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nMick recorded the reading and returned 24 hours later to discover the meter claimed he had used 54,000 litres, equivalent to around 300 baths.<BR><br \/>\nHe said: \u201cThere\u2019s nowhere that sort of water could come out of here in a private residence. I\u2019m thinking, a plumber, are you for real? I\u2019m telling you, there\u2019s no water anywhere.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nBetween July 24 and August 13, he says the meter recorded another 1,212,428 litres, enough to fill more than 6,700 baths.<BR><br \/>\nMick said the situation had been particularly stressful for his wife, although he wasn&#8217;t as &#8220;fazed&#8221;.<BR><br \/>\nHe added: &#8220;She lost a bit of sleep the first night, but you can\u2019t do anything about it. You\u2019ve got to wait for the powers that be.
