{"id":5004,"date":"2026-08-20T11:00:44","date_gmt":"2026-08-20T11:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/20\/bear-dies-trapped-inside-car\/"},"modified":"2026-08-20T11:00:46","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T11:00:46","slug":"bear-dies-trapped-inside-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/20\/bear-dies-trapped-inside-car\/","title":{"rendered":"Bear dies trapped inside car"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-08-20 11:00:44<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A black bear has died after breaking into an unlocked car in Colorado and becoming trapped inside as temperatures soared.<BR><br \/>\nThe 250lb animal climbed into the vehicle in central Colorado Springs, where it tore apart the interior before apparently being unable to work out how to escape.<BR><br \/>\nColorado Parks and Wildlife said the bear&#8217;s body was discovered several days later, curled up on the front passenger seat.<BR><br \/>\nPictures released by the agency show the vehicle&#8217;s battered interior covered in fur and dirt.<BR><br \/>\nWildlife Officer Travis Sauder told The Colorado Springs Gazette: \u201cTypically what happens is they pull the door open, get in, get their food, and then they leave.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cBut sometimes the door closes behind them, and they have trouble figuring out how to get out.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nAuthorities urged drivers to lock their vehicles and remove any food or rubbish that could attract hungry bears.<BR><br \/>\nThe warning comes as Colorado records a sharp rise in bear encounters.<BR><br \/>\nBetween January 1 and August 13, CPW received 6,129 reports of bear sightings and conflicts, almost double the 3,115 recorded during the same period last year.<BR><br \/>\nThere were 5,299 reports across the whole of 2025.<BR><br \/>\nOfficials warned that bears can lose their natural fear of humans when they repeatedly find food around homes and vehicles.<BR><br \/>\nSuch animals can become \u201chabituated\u201d, potentially making them dangerous and, in some cases, leading to them being killed.<BR><br \/>\nCPW said locking cars and removing temptations can help prevent bears from learning that human property is an easy source of food.<BR><br \/>\nThe agency&#8217;s message was summed up with a simple hashtag: #BeBearWise.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-08-20 11:00:44 A black bear has died after breaking into an unlocked car in Colorado and becoming trapped inside as temperatures soared.
