{"id":5030,"date":"2026-08-26T11:00:36","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T11:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/26\/millionaire-dads-unusual-marriage-rules\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T11:00:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T11:00:38","slug":"millionaire-dads-unusual-marriage-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/08\/26\/millionaire-dads-unusual-marriage-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Millionaire dad&#039;s unusual marriage rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-08-26 11:00:36<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A multimillionaire businessman has revealed the unusual rules he follows to keep his marriage strong, including barely speaking to his wife during working hours.<BR><br \/>\nJames Dooley, 42, has been married to Kerri for eight years and says she has supported him throughout his rise from living at his mum\u2019s house to running 17 companies with more than 300 employees.<BR><br \/>\nHis businesses, which include digital marketing firm FatRank, generate around \u00a310million a year.<BR><br \/>\nBut James says his relentless drive means he needs strict boundaries between work and family life.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cWe never speak in the day because every distraction can take 23 minutes to get back into flow state again,\u201d he told the Daily Mirror newspaper.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cWhen I\u2019m working I am seriously focused and I don\u2019t want distractions unless it is something serious.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nThe couple met on a night out in Bolton 16 years ago and eventually married after travelling and partying together before having their three children.<BR><br \/>\nJames says Kerri understands his entrepreneurial mindset, even when he wakes at 1am with another business idea.<BR><br \/>\nHe added: \u201cThere are times I can wake up at 1am with new crazy business ideas that I need to get out of my head. The wife understands it\u2019s better I get up and go into the garden office because otherwise I\u2019ll be restless and not sleep.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cShe understands me better than I do myself and she knows when I need to get things out of my head.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nKerri also helps curb his tendency to chase every new opportunity.<BR><br \/>\nJames admits he suffers from \u201cshiny object syndrome\u201d and FOMO, but says his wife plays devil\u2019s advocate when he gets carried away.<BR><br \/>\nThe pair reserve 3pm to 7pm for their children, who are all under five, with James telling staff he is unavailable.<BR><br \/>\nHe explained: \u201cIn the blink of an eye the kids will be teenagers and want to do their own things. Having a work-life balance is very important for me.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nAnd despite his wealth, James does not believe in showering Kerri with designer gifts.<BR><br \/>\nHe added: \u201cI actually never buy her gifts. Time and memories mean more than anything you can wrap. I will always prioritise time and memories over material gifts.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nInstead, the family spends money on experiences, including holidays, racehorses and a jet ski.<BR><br \/>\nJames admitted his ultimate measure of success is far simpler.<BR><br \/>\nHe said: \u201cSuccess is having a roof over our heads. Clean water easily flowing out of our cold tap. Three healthy kids.
