{"id":5066,"date":"2026-09-03T10:04:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T10:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/03\/woman-blasts-charging-moose-with-bear-spray\/"},"modified":"2026-09-03T10:04:11","modified_gmt":"2026-09-03T10:04:11","slug":"woman-blasts-charging-moose-with-bear-spray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2026\/09\/03\/woman-blasts-charging-moose-with-bear-spray\/","title":{"rendered":"Woman blasts charging moose with bear spray"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2026-09-03 10:04:09<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>A woman reached for a can of bear spray when a huge moose charged at her dogs outside her home.<BR><br \/>\nShelly Thorburn was in her backyard in Big Sky, Montana when the animal appeared and suddenly went after her pets, leaving her scrambling to protect her furry friends.<BR><br \/>\nDoorbell camera footage captured the dramatic encounter, showing Thorburn using the spray to stop the moose in its tracks.<BR><br \/>\nShe told CNN: \u201cI was fearful, for sure, because, you know, she was so big, and I&#8217;ve never had a big animal like that run after me.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nThorburn said her biggest concern was 14-year-old Annie, one of her dogs, who is deaf and losing her sight.<BR><br \/>\nShe added: \u201cShe cannot hear, she&#8217;s deaf, and she&#8217;s visually impaired, so she did not anything that was going on.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nThe moose fled after being sprayed, allowing Thorburn to get all of her dogs safely back inside.<BR><br \/>\nRemarkably, none of the animals or Thorburn were injured during the frightening encounter.<BR><br \/>\nThe homeowner admitted she barely had time to think as she reacted to the charging animal.<BR><br \/>\nShe said: \u201cI didn&#8217;t realise I was doing all that, but I just wanted to get them all in the house, everybody.\u201d<BR><br \/>\nMoose may look slow and lumbering, but they can become aggressive when threatened, particularly when dogs are involved.<BR><br \/>\nFor Thorburn, however, the priority was simple: getting her pets out of danger.<BR><br \/>\nAfter the spray sent the moose running, she managed to round up her dogs and get them indoors, bringing the bizarre backyard encounter to a safe end.<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Visit Bang Bizarre (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2026-09-03 10:04:09 A woman reached for a can of bear spray when a huge moose charged at her dogs outside her home.
