US President Donald Trump currently has no plans to give a speech confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life.

\nThe reality TV star-turned-politician has been busy overseeing the release of official files relating to UAP (unidentified anomalous phenomena) sightings and rumours have been swirling for months over whether Trump is planning to step up the country’s disclosure by giving a speech in which he will confirm exactly how much American authorities know.

\nHowever, a White House spokesperson has insisted rumours of a confirmation speech are unfounded, telling Wired: “No such speech is planned – rather, the administration continues to release files as they become available, and the public to make up their own minds about the information uncovered.”

\nIn July, rumours of a planned Trump speech were stepped up by a the publication of a report by the Liberation Times which suggested a speech confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life had already been written for the President.

\nLiberation Times’ founder, Christopher Sharp, claims a source told the publication that Trump was planning an announcement. He told Wired: “They basically said: ‘Look, I’m quite shaken, because it looks like Trump may make some kind of announcement on UAP disclosure’.”

\nHe went on to add the insider claimed Trump would not give the speech until certain conditions were met – because he needs to be sure he has “firm evidence” before going public.

\nSharp said: “If you’re the president, you have to be sure that there’s firm evidence. The worst thing you can do is come out with this speech and then whatever you put out could be debunked straight away … You’ll go down in history as a laughingstock.”

\nAnother source summed up with pre-written speech to the publication, saying: “[It explains] we’re not alone, we have captured some of these or retrieved some of these things, they’re of non-human origin, and that there is a reverse engineering effort.”

\nJordan Flowers, executive director of the Disclosure Foundation, an organisation which campaigns for greater transparency around UAP sightings, added to Wired: “Often in the mainstream, when this topic gets brought up, there’s a giggle factor.

\n“I can tell you who is not giggling about this: senior members of the administration, senior intelligence officials, senior members of the military, senior members of Congress.

\n“When the door closes, no one ever says: ‘Oh, this is all made up, isn’t it?’ No. The door closes and they say: ‘We know there’s something happening here, we know this is serious, what do we do about it?'”
