Bigfoot hunters have been offered a $1 million reward for proof of the fabled beast’s existence.

\nAlcoholic drinks brand Hard Mountain Dew has launched a new campaign offering the lucrative sum to anyone who can provide evidence which finally proves Bigfoot is real.

\nErica Taylor, senior brand director for Hard Mountain Dew, said in a statement: “Hard Mountain Dew has always been about chasing bold experiences, and Bigfoot Bounty takes that mindset to the next level.

\n“Every fall [autumn], someone\u2019s got a story of a shape in the trees or a sound they can\u2019t explain. Whether you catch Bigfoot or just catch a good story trying, there\u2019s nothing better than an ice-cold Hard Mountain Dew at the end of the hunt.”

\nEntries to the competition – which is open to adults over the age of 21 – must include “compelling evidence” relating to Bigfoot and can include photographs of the creature itself as well as footprints, handprints, hair samples, audio and visual footage, thermal imaging or environmental evidence such as tracks.

\nThe evidence submitted will be reviewed by Bryce Johnson, the producer of a Bigfoot docuseries.

\nIn order to win the $1 million jackpot, the entry must include at least four types of supporting evidence.

\nRegardless of who wins the main prize, 100 others deemed to have submitted convincing evidence will win a cash prize of $20 – enough to buy them a 12-pack of Hard Mountain Dew.

\nIt comes after a university professor has explained how Big Foot has evaded humans for such a long time and may never be found.

\nSightings of the legendary creature – also known as Sasquatch – continue to flood in with the most recent coming from rural Ontario in Canada in the rural region of Chatham-Kent with three incidents being reported within three days of each other in April.

\nNow a university professor has weighed in on the sightings and explained how Big Foot has evaded humans for such a long time – admitting “we probably won\u2019t ever find” the legendary creature.

\nJosh Redstone, a professor of philosophy at Carleton University, told the Guardian newspaper: “Humans are naturally curious, and while there can be something frightening about the unknown, there can also be something exciting about it.

\n“And for people who believe in Sasquatch, there\u2019s an excitement around the possibility of discovering something new.

\n“When people cite Indigenous stories of Sasquatch, they often ignore that for many communities, these creatures were actually a society of giant people who had clothing and tools but they just lived far away in the wilderness. The idea of an ape – a lost primate – is relatively new”

\n He went on to add of the sightings: “Over millions of years, our brains have become very, very good at identifying what\u2019s alive in our environment.

\n“But they also have the tendency to see life where there is none. Because from a survival perspective, it\u2019s better to assume something is alive than the opposite.

\n“Even familiar environments can seem kind of eerie, especially if you feel like something\u2019s out there. It can be fascinating and unsettling \u2013 and an explanation for why a lot of people have these experiences.”

\nThe professor went on to conclude the legendary beast may never be found but he encouraged everyone to embrace the natural world and enjoy it while they are out looking for Big Foot.

\nHe said: “I\u2019m of the belief that we probably won\u2019t ever find Sasquatch, but we should all go outside and encounter nature a little bit more.”
