{"id":723,"date":"2025-02-04T16:42:55","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T16:42:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2024\/07\/18\/uk-could-face-explosion-in-killer-stingray-numbers\/"},"modified":"2025-02-04T16:42:55","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T16:42:55","slug":"uk-could-face-explosion-in-killer-stingray-numbers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/04\/uk-could-face-explosion-in-killer-stingray-numbers\/","title":{"rendered":"UK could face explosion in killer stingray numbers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2024-07-18 11:11:27<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>The UK could be facing an explosion in the numbers of killer stingrays.<BR><br \/>\nThe sea creatures &#8211; which are typically found in tropical areas &#8211; are starting to turn up more on the British coastline, and this summer the numbers are rising as they visit shallow and muddy bays on the hunt for food.<BR><br \/>\nThe British Sea Fishing website said: &#8220;It is perfectly possible that warming seas and other environmental factors will see stingray numbers increase in British waters over the coming years.<BR><br \/>\n&#8220;Stingrays are most famous for the serrated, venomous stinger which is concealed in their tail.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cOnce the point of the stinger pierces flesh the cells are torn open and release the venom inside of the victim.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cThe venom then causes the wound to become inflamed and it can go on to cause symptoms such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, and diarrhea.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nAttacks on humans are rare, although if a stinger hits the face or chest, they could cause a fatal injury, while &#8216;Crocodile Hunter&#8217; star Steve Irwin died after being stung by a stingray in 2006.<BR><br \/>\nHowever, the organisation explained that most attacks happen due to &#8220;divers provoking them&#8221; in some way.<BR><br \/>\nThey continued: &#8220;The vast majority of attacks are caused by divers provoking them or surprising or startling them by approaching from behind.<BR><br \/>\n\u201cBathers can also be \u2018attacked\u2019 by stingrays if they accidentally step on one which has buried itself into sand.&#8221;<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/bangpremier.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Visit Bang Premier (main website) <\/a><br \/>\n<br \/><script src=\"https:\/\/geo.dailymotion.com\/player\/xtbac.js\" data-video=\"\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>2024-07-18 11:11:27 The UK could be facing an explosion in the numbers of killer stingrays.
