{"id":993,"date":"2025-02-04T16:42:53","date_gmt":"2025-02-04T16:42:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/22\/the-moons-south-pole-was-covered-in-an-ocean-of-magma\/"},"modified":"2025-02-04T16:42:53","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T16:42:53","slug":"the-moons-south-pole-was-covered-in-an-ocean-of-magma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bangbizarre.com\/index.php\/2025\/02\/04\/the-moons-south-pole-was-covered-in-an-ocean-of-magma\/","title":{"rendered":"The Moon&#039;s south pole was covered in an ocean of magma"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>2024-08-22 14:13:14<\/b><br \/>\n<BR>The Moon&#8217;s south pole was once covered in an ocean of magma.<BR><br \/>\nIndian researchers say that the findings back up the theory that an ocean of liquid molten rock formed the lunar surface approximately 4.5 billion years ago.<BR><br \/>\nThe historic Chandrayaan-3 mission landed on the Moon&#8217;s south pole, where no craft had ever explored before,  last year and found evidence of ferroan anorthosite &#8211; or molten rock &#8211; in the area.<BR><br \/>\nDr. Santosh Vadawale, an expert at the Physical Research Laboratory, said: &#8220;The theory of early evolution of the Moon becomes much more robust in the light of our observations.&#8221;<BR><br \/>\nDr. Vadawale and the team were at mission control during Chandrayaan-3&#8217;s explorations and described the excitement he and his colleagues felt at the discovery.<BR><br \/>\nHe said: &#8220;They were really exciting times.
