A wildlife biologist has recalled seeing a six-foot-tall, “black-haired” creature circling her car in the middle of the night during a camping trip.
Carol Scott has revealed she took a vacation with her husband to Mount Baker in Oregon back in 1979 and the pair decided to pack up their tents and sleep in their station wagon because they were concerned about the threat of bears. Carol claims the pair were woken by a “very big creature” which circled the car for around 15 minutes before disappearing off into the darkness.
In a report filed to the North American Wood Ape Conservancy, she wrote: “I was working as a wildlife biologist in eastern Oregon in August of 1979. I was married and went camping with my husband on top of Mount Baker, the biggest mountain in Eastern Oregon. It was pure wilderness on top of this mountain …
“We pitched a tent, but never slept in it because we were afraid of what wildlife might be there. We had a small station wagon and decided to sleep in it in case we had an encounter with a bear.
“In the middle of the night we had a very big creature that came out of the woods and walked in circles on two feet around our car for at least 15 minutes or longer.”
She added of the beast: “It walked on two feet and it sounded like it had a peg-leg like Captain Hook. This creature was big, about six feet tall with black hair.
“It was curious about the car and it kept walking in circles around the car. It would stop walking when I shown a lantern light on it. Then it started walking again when the light was off.
“This encounter lasted at least 15-20 minutes. Then the creature lost interest and wandered away into the forest. “
Carol revealed the pair then got out of the car and built a campfire to keep the creature away. She also told how she went back to the mountain to carry out a study of birds and carried a shotgun for protection.
She looked for tracks of any other evidence of the creature at the spot of the sighting but didn’t find anything.
Carol concluded: “The wildlife people were studying Bigfoot in Washington and Oregon states. This creature is real and is considered an endangered species.”
North American Wood Ape Conservancy investigator Tami Grimes, wrote: “Scott shared that she has rarely told others about this experience because when she has spoken about it in the past, the encounter was often dismissed.
“She also expressed a sense of relief in being able to discuss the event with an organization that approaches the subject from a scientific perspective. Her conviction remains strong.
“She described her experience not as ambiguous or uncertain, but as a clear and direct encounter with a large, bipedal animal. Of this event that occurred nearly 47 years ago, Scott said: ‘I remember it as clearly as it if was last night, and I’ll never forget it’.”
