A young bear was spotted running through the aisles of an Arizona grocery store.

The Oro Valley Police Department confirmed the grizzly beast’s presence in Fry’s grocery store at around 6.30am on Monday (29.09.25) morning.

Wildlife photographer Charlie Alolkoy said he had just returned from an unsuccessful trip to Catalina State Park when he stopped at the shop.

He told KOLD-TV: “I could hear some shouting, and someone said, ‘Hey, there’s a bear in the store,’ and I’m like, ‘Yeah, right, I wasn’t buying it.’

“Low and behold I get the biggest wildlife I’ve seen up to this point.”

Charlie filmed the bruin darting between displays before it fled the building and was later seen outside a nearby Starbucks coffee shop.

By the time police and Arizona Game and Fish officials arrived, the animal had disappeared.

Authorities stressed the bear was not acting aggressively and no one was injured.

Officials believe dry weather may be forcing bears into towns in search of food.

Mark Freiberg, of Arizona Game and Fish, told reporters: “What that typically equates to is less food resources on the ground for wildlife and bears specifically.”
