A woman was left gobsmacked after receiving a blunt late-night note from her neighbours complaining about her “excessive” noise.

The furious resident took to social media to share a snap of the handwritten message, which had been pushed through her letterbox at 11:59pm.

According to the Mirror, the note read: “Hi. Just to let you know the noise from your flat is excessive. The constant banging and loud footsteps are really disturbing, especially late at night. Please be more considerate.”

But the woman insists she had done nothing wrong, explaining online that she had simply been walking around her own home and carrying out normal evening tasks.

In her post on Reddit, she said she felt the complaint was unfair and overly dramatic.

She added: “I’m literally just walking around my flat. It’s not like I’m throwing a party or blasting music.”

The timing of the note also annoyed her, as it arrived late at night rather than being discussed face-to-face.

Many social media users rushed to back her, with one commenting that neighbours sometimes forget that “normal living noise” is unavoidable in flats.

Another added: “If you can’t cope with footsteps, don’t live underneath someone.”

Others suggested the issue could simply be poor insulation between properties rather than deliberate disruption.

Still, some urged her to consider whether small adjustments – like wearing softer footwear indoors – might help keep the peace.

The incident has sparked debate about what counts as unreasonable noise, especially in shared buildings where everyday sounds can travel easily.
