Cardboard packaging for a Princess Leia figure from Star Wars may sell for a whopping £15,000 at auction.
The 1978 pre-production proof card was used by Kenner to check quality control on its toy line, meaning it has no blister bubble and no actual figure of the late Carrie Fisher’s iconic character attached.
It will go under the hammer in Louisiana on March 8.
According to The Sun, Mark Montero, founder of LCG Auctions, said the rare find is “an exceedingly rare Leia pre-production proof card” from the original run.
He explained the lot comes from a long-time collector’s estate and described it as “a stunner” with vivid colours front and back, “virtually free of imperfections”.
The card is “perfectly flat and unpunched”.
Mark added that proof cards have “really caught fire” in the past couple of years, largely thanks to their scarcity.
Most have populations under 30, compared to 500 to 1,000 standard figures.
