A British woman claims she experienced “a feeling of extreme peace” after her heart stopped for 24 minutes.

Lauren Canaday was clinically dead for almost half an hour, after suffering a heart attack in February – but she insists she no longer has any fears of dying, having already come so close to losing her life.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Lauren explained: “I remember only a feeling of extreme peace. That peace stayed with me for weeks after I woke up.”

Lauren admitted that death no longer holds any fear for her, having already survived a cardiac arrest.

She also confessed that she didn’t hear or see anything distinct during the time she was unconscious.

She said: “I definitely don’t fear death anymore.

“Despite not seeing anything distinct, I don’t feel worried about it at all.”

Lauren actually views her experience as a turning point in her life, explaining that her life before the heart attack was distinctly different to how she lives now.

Lauren – who didn’t see anything like a light or a tunnel, as other people have previously claimed – believes the heart attack marked the end of her first life and the beginning of her second.

She reflected: “I feel like my first life ended in February. And I woke up to my second life.”

Lauren admitted that she now feels like an entirely new person, having been clinically dead for so long. However, she still has a constant reminder of her near-death experience, after having a defibrillator fitted in her chest.

Lauren – who survived after receiving CPR support from her husband and paramedics – said: “When people tell me I look well, it feels eerie. Because I don’t feel like the same person.”
