More than a tenth of young Brits are happy to eat their meals on the loo or in the shower.

A new survey has found many people have ditched the dining table entirely in favour of eating elsewhere in the house, and while the majority (68 per cent) take their plates to the sofa, 34 per cent have eaten in bed, while others opt for less conventional spaces.

The research from HelloFresh and Scrub Daddy found 12 per cent have taken their meals into the garden shed or garage, while 12 per cent of Gen Z respondents admitted to eating in the bath, and 10 per cent said they have done so on the loo or in the shower.

Elsewhere, the survey uncovered some secret kitchen habits among cooks.

Two thirds confessed to licking the spoon, while one in five have served up food that has fallen on the floor, and 21% admitted to ‘double-dipping’ their spoon while preparing meals for others.

And Brits can also be creative cleaners, with items including old socks, underwear and toothbrushes being utilised to help clean the dishes.
