A circus star has stunned crowds after lifting the weight of a full‑grown adult using nothing more than her braids.

Diana Elizabeth Batres Hermosillo, from from San Luis Potosí, Mexico, who has spent 26 years performing jaw‑dropping physical stunts, took on her wildest challenge yet at the Le Paz Theatre.

In front of a packed audience, the entertainer clipped six heavy plates to a chain attached to her tightly braided hair – then hauled an eye‑watering 166.11 lbs (75.35 kg) clean off the ground to claim the title for the heaviest weight lifted with hair by a female.

Her feat toppled the previous record held by Indian athlete Asha Rani, who lifted 122.58 lbs (55.6 kg) back in 2014.

Diana spent six months preparing her scalp, neck and back for the brutal strain, gradually adding more weight to a homemade contraption built from gym discs, a steel chain and a carabiner.

On the day, she braided her natural hair into two sections, tied them together, clipped in – and lifted the equivalent of a human being for a full 14 seconds as the crowd gasped and roared.

And she wasn’t done.

After setting the record, Diana returned to the stage for another act, suspending her entire body weight from a hook using only the strength of her hair.
