A documentary filmmaker has predicted that aliens are set to reveal themselves during the 2026 World Cup.

The global sporting competition kicks off on Thursday (11.06.26) at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City, Mexico, and Mark Christopher Lee thinks it could be the perfect opportunity for extraterrestrials to make their first official contact with humanity.

Lee, a renowned UFO investigator, author and director of documentaries including UFO Encounters of the 5th Kind and God Versus Aliens, made his allegations amid an “undeniable” pattern of UFO activity linked to soccer stadiums and major tournaments.

He explained: “The pattern is undeniable. From Florence in 1954, where a packed stadium became a UFO viewing platform, to modern World Cup venues, soccer has repeatedly been interrupted or overshadowed by the unexplained.

“With the 2026 tournament about to kick off amid unprecedented UAP transparency from the U.S. government, we may be days or weeks away from the moment the world has been waiting for – live disclosure before the largest global audience in human history.”

The incident Lee referred to in Florence took part during a friendly match between Fiorentina and their local rivals at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the Italian city, on 27 October, 1954.

The game was halted when cigar-shaped, egg-like silvery objects took to the sky, performing acrobatic manoeuvres in the sky.

When the referee suspended play, footballers including Italian sports legend Ardico Magnini, and 10,000 fans looked up to the sky – stunned by what they were seeing.

As the mysterious objects departed, they left behind “angel hair” – silvery thread-like strands determined by scientists at the University of Florence to contain boron, silicon, magnesium, and calcium – which disintegrated quickly when touched.

The 1954 event sparked a string of UFO sightings across Tuscany and Europe later that year.

Meanwhile, during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, a “stingray-shaped” UFO was spotted in the sky above Nizhny Novgorod Stadium – with a video of the bizarre event quickly going viral.

While a sighting was also reported in 2023 above Mexico’s FC Juárez Bravos stadium, as well as others near major stadiums worldwide.

Lee continued to urge football fans to keep an eye on the skies, as well as the pitch.

He concluded: “If my prediction is correct, the final whistle of the 2026 World Cup could also mark the beginning of a new era for humanity.”
