Wednesday the best day to enjoy a coffee.

Per The Sun, psychologists found people rate coffee as tasting better on Wednesdays, with experts suggesting it’s because the working week has passed its halfway point and the weekend is finally in sight.

The study, led by researchers at the University of Oxford, surveyed 3,000 people across 11 countries, including the UK, between April 2024 and February 2025.

It also found mornings are the ideal time to savour a coffee, while spring emerged as the season when people enjoy it most.

Study author Professor Charles Spence told the publication: “Wednesday represents the start of the countdown to the weekend, which can make people feel more positive about everything, including what they are drinking.”

He added: “A season like spring, when the weather is improving and people feel hopeful about the coming year, may boost the feelgood emotions a cup of coffee can evoke.

“Meanwhile, autumn may herald the start of the ‘winter blues’, so even a coffee is less enjoyable.”

Researchers also found the best coffee experience involves sitting down with friends rather than drinking alone, standing up or rushing from place to place.

Participants preferred their drinks without lids, suggesting aroma plays a major role in enjoyment.

The study revealed Generations X and Millennials, aged between 30 and 60, generally appreciated coffee more than Gen Z drinkers under 30.
