Couples are clashing over scatter cushions.
According to a poll of 1,000 partners, 54 per cent have had intense outbursts over how many of the decorative pieces were on their beds.
And 12 per cent of those surveyed by hotel chain Premier Inn said scatter cushions have delayed them from getting snuggled up in bed because it is a task to remove them all.
Sarah Simpson, sleep expert at Premier Inn, warned couples that battles with scatter cushions are having a big impact on an individual’s sleep pattern.
She said: “Your bedroom should be your sanctuary, not a battleground over soft furnishings.
“If scatter cushions are creating conflict, they’re actively sabotaging your sleep hygiene.”
According to health insurance firm Bupa, a “long-term lack of sleep increases our risk of diabetes, depression, and may increase our risk of some cancers”.
The company states that on average, adults between 18 and 65 need between seven and nine hours of sleep, with those 65 or older needing between seven and eight hours of sleep.
