A new cancer‑prevention campaign is telling men to take their health into their own hands — quite literally — after research suggested that more frequent ejaculation could help reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

FCancer, the nonprofit behind the eyebrow‑raising initiative, says its mission is to “beat cancer off, literally,” encouraging men to ejaculate 21 times a month for potential health benefits.

The idea comes from long‑running research involving more than 50,000 men, which found that those who ejaculated 21 or more times per month had a 19–22 per cent lower risk of developing prostate cancer.

Dr Lorelei Mucci of Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, who co‑authored the research, told the New York Post the number isn’t magic — just where the data landed.

Even men who ejaculated eight times a month saw a small reduction in risk.

Scientists still aren’t entirely sure why it helps, but theories include “flushing out” potential carcinogens, reducing inflammation or influencing gene expression in prostate tissue.

FCancer co‑founder Yael Cohen says the campaign uses humour because it gets men talking.

She said: “Your hands don’t replace your doctor; they get you to them.”

And while the campaign leans into the jokes, the message is serious: prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men, and early detection saves lives.

Dr Mucci hopes the cheeky approach will push more men to get screened and understand their risk.
