Having an egg for breakfast may help slash dementia risk.
Scientists from Loma Linda University, California, tracked nearly 40,000 adults over 15 years and found those eating eggs twice a week had a reduced risk compared with those who avoided them.
Benefits appeared greater among people consuming eggs up to five times weekly, with risk reductions reaching 27 per cent.
Eggs are rich in nutrients such as choline, vitamin B12, lutein and zeaxanthin, which support brain health and memory.
Researchers said these compounds may protect brain cells and improve cognitive function.
However, they cautioned the findings show only an association rather than proof of protection.
Experts advise enjoying eggs as part of a balanced diet to help maintain overall health and potentially reduce dementia risk.
