Brits are the world’s least fussy daters.

Research from the dating app Breeze revealed that singletons are so relaxed about height, most do not bother using a height filter at all – with 32 per cent of UK users using a height filter at all, compared to almost two in five Dutch users (38.6 per cent), the highest of all markets.

The findings – which analysing millions of matches and dates across the UK, Europe and the US, and form part of Breeze’s Dating Report 2025 – also found that British daters have the most flexible height preferences, with 50 per cent allowing a range of more than 40cm, and 1-2 per cent of users being highly specific, with a height range of 10cm or less.

The data discovered Brits are open-minded, patient, and willing to travel for miles for a first date, the longest being 424km from Carlisle to London.

In the UK, the most popular day to match for a date is Sunday – accounting for nearly 16 per cent of all matches – with Tuesday being the nation’s top day for first dates.

Despite being laid-back, British daters do like to take their time to meet in real life, with data showing that UK Breeze users take an average of nearly 12 days between matching and going on a date, compared to Americans in New York City (58 per cent) who meet within the first week.

Marsha Goei, Chief Dating Officer at Breeze, said: “The data shows that dating in 2025 is becoming less about optimisation and more about intention.

“British singles aren’t trying to ‘hack’ dating by narrowing down endless filters, they’re keeping their options open and focusing on whether a connection feels right in real life.

“At the same time, they’re more deliberate about meeting, taking the time to choose dates that genuinely fit into their lives. That balance of openness and intention is exactly what we built Breeze for.”

The data from Breeze – which has arranged almost 600,000 real-life dates across Europe and the US since its launch in 2020 – also revealed the formula for the most successful profiles,

Profiles obtaining six photos, a bio of at least 50 characters (ideally 150–300), seven to 10 interest tags, three answered profile questions, and a clear dating intention – preferably “serious” – go on 4.2 times more Breeze dates than the UK average.
