Aliens could look like jellyfish.
Bill Diamond, president of the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute, is determined to find evidence of aliens’ existence.
He is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: “I do believe aliens are real. Definitely. Life is probably very common in the universe.
“It’s very hard for us to imagine what aliens would be like, but [they] may be similar creatures like jellyfish. We have jellyfish that, from my point of view, are pretty extraordinary looking, a bit like aliens.”
The 69-year-old extraterrestrial hunter thinks a planet’s gravity would influence how living beings evolve there.
He explained: “A bigger planet than Earth is going to have a stronger gravitational field that’s going to require an organism that is capable of withstanding that gravitational pull, so it is likely to be a more robust physical species.
“A planet slightly smaller would have a lower gravitational field that might allow for more spindly, less structurally solid beings.”
Mr Diamond joked that aliens may not wish to make contact with humans because the latter are “always fighting”.
He added: “There’s a joke among researchers that when alien spacecraft fly by the Earth, they lock the doors.”
